I love to learn new forms of art. I am not an artist but I am trying to improve my skills through learning. It’s my stress buster and it brings out the glee in me πŸ™‚
The Glee Art section will feature my creations.

Today, I am sharing a 3d Rubik’s cube. It is an anamorphic drawing made on a simple piece of flat paper.

Stay happy and spread the glee!

Reward yourself!

I get bored with my routine too quickly. I always feel the need to try out new things. For a few days I am super energized and excited to take it forward. But in no time I give up because of boredom and lack of motivation. I have two goals in near future – this blog and the store. And to keep myself motivated I have decided to reward myself for every little accomplishment.

How can we achieve this?
Start by defining small goals. Make sure the goals are practical and achievable. Keep some deadlines and work towards accomplishing it. Once accomplished, reward yourself! Sounds simple, right? It is simple! It just needs a little planning and some dedication. You can reward yourself for anything and everything that you want to stick to. Whether its a weight loss mission, or learning a new skill at work, or getting better at cooking or at a sport, or simply making happiness a daily habit:-) Seriously, reward yourself for every small accomplishment in your life!

What can we reward ourselves with ?
Absolutely anything you want to πŸ™‚
Rewards can vary from person-to-person. They don’t have to be big and expensive. Anything that makes you happy can be rewarded.

I am listing down a few ideas:

1. Treat yourself with your favourite food. Unless you are rewarding yourself for weight loss :-P. But once in a while indulgence does no harm!

2. Gift yourself that pair of shoes or the dress that you have been wanting for so long. These are just examples. You can gift yourself whatever you want to πŸ™‚

3. If you can splurge, go for a trip to a place that was always on your must-see list.

4. Pamper yourself at the spa.

5. A “do-nothing-at-all” evening or “do-nothing-at-all” day. Just relax and laze around.

6. Catch a movie that you had missed or watch your favourite movie again.

7. Spend some extra time with family and friends.

8. Sleep for a few extra hours!

Rewards are always pleasant. It gives a feeling of fulfilment and achievement. I have learned that this is a powerful method and keeps me engaged to my goal. And every accomplishment along with a reward gives me happiness, immense happiness! Try it out for yourself!

The Glee In Me – By Lakshmi Deshpande Deuskar

God has been kind. On the whole I’ve had a happy life thus far. I think happiness is deeply rooted in a person’s ability to be content. There’s no limit to “wants”, so Il focus on “needs” . And I have wayyyyy more than I need- a wonderful family, a caring set of friends, an incredibly loving partner- my closest friend, a very comfortable life.
But if you want me to sit down and pin point to the things that make me super happy, here’s an off-the-top-of-my-head list-

1. Doodling
Totally gets my creativity out from god knows where. I immensely enjoy the applause that follows..happy happy me :p

2.Playing with my nephew and niece. Sounds Cliche’d but I madly adore those kids and with them anything goes πŸ™‚

3. Travel bug
Just like most people. I love it when my husband plans a trip someplace exotic,unique. Its so well thought out and carefully executed, with my likes and dislikes in mind. Princess treatment!

4. Time with my girlfriends also brings out the fun side in me. I thoroughly enjoy gossip (am a qualified recipient, dry source)

5. A good laugh should have topped this list. I have a blast cracking jokes irrespective of people laughing at them! Keeps my mood up and that adrenaline rushing!

6. Slightly embarrassing but too true to not mention.. I adore food. I think about it for a large part of the day. Great food fills not only the tummy but also the heart. I strive to be a good cook- feed good food to good people.

7. Another step towards more happiness? Having a super sexy bod.slim trim. Ok am not fat, but then most women who want this aren’t! I just wish there was an alternative to eating right and exercise. (example: eat what you want and watch tv all day) *sigh*

Urm..I could later add more here, if you’re still interested . For now I better get back to my office work before I jeopardize my current state of bliss!

Selfie : Self(ie) Love

Tell you a truth ? I am very conscious when I am photographed. Ninety nine percent of the times I blame the photographer for my closed eyes or my grumpy face or those extra pounds. Maybe I don’t know how to pose well before the camera. Maybe I am too nervous about the end result before I am clicked or maybe I criticise myself way too much.
To you tell you another truth, I have joined the selfie league too πŸ™‚

While I don’t take selfies too often, I like the freedom associated with it.
It gives me the power to present the way I want myself to be seen. I can control how I look and can take as many snaps as I want till I am pleased with the result.

Why are selfies important for happiness?
I won’t say they are an absolute must but self love is one of the ways of achieving it. How do you feel when you see an old picture of yours? Happy, right? You try to recall the time when it was taken or where it was taken. And that moment fills you with absolute joy! Selfies are just an extension to that. They make you burst with glee in the very moment. They make you love yourself, boost your self esteem and feel good about yourself. What does this lead to ? Yes, Happiness!

I agree it maybe momentary happiness. But achieving happiness is our motive, isn’t it? Such small steps in our daily routine can sprinkle happiness in our lives. Anything that makes us feel happy (of course without harming others and ourselves!) should be tried. Obviously, excess of anything is harmful! Being obsessed with ourselves isn’t the right way to seek happiness. Doing it in moderation can help!

Next time you are bored or just sitting idle, experiment with selfies. Share it with your family and friends. It’s a fun activity sure to leave you with some smiles πŸ™‚

Spread glee with a Compliment!

Lately I have been receiving a lot of compliments for my blog and my store. Not only it makes me happy but also motivates me to work harder. How do you feel when someone compliments you? I burst with joy when someone compliments me! I can live with that compliment for several days πŸ™‚ I am sure we all feel the same.

Compliments go a long way. They boost happiness whether the compliment is given or received. They can be as small as praising someone’s new clothes or new look. Or as big as an achievement at work! Compliments in any form can bring out the glee.

Compliment people around you. Start appreciating others. Return a compliment if someone gives you. If you are not very good at saying, use Social media. “Like” on Facebook or comment or share their post. Compliment your family, your friends or your colleagues. And feel the happiness that starts to surround you after that πŸ™‚

If it’s been long since you complimented someone, then NOW is the time!

Practice GRATITUDE!

Gratitude is a practice, Make it a priority!

In hard times, I would always end up saying – “Why me God?! Why me again?!” And in good times, I would be so overjoyed that I would forget to thank God for it. It took me a while to realise that I have been expecting too much without being grateful for what I already have. And that’s when I realised that I need to practice gratitude more often.

Here are a few ways we can practice gratitude:

1. Be grateful to God and everyone around who have given you that joy.
Be thankful for being able to see the sun rise the next day. Be thankful for the beautiful people in your life, for the delicious food you ate and for every little thing (that you can’t live without!) that you own.

2. In bad times, practice gratitude even more! This is the time to be grateful – not for what has happened but for what that has not happened. This will help us panic less and open up our minds to find solutions.

3. Express Gratitude
Be thankful to people who are close. We often take our parents, spouse or kids for granted. Express gratitude to them regularly. Use the “Thank You” word more often.

4. Fix a time to practice it
As soon as you wake up or just before you go to bed are good times to practice gratitude. I prefer to do it in the mornings along with my prayers.

5. Take a Gratitude walk
Some people swear by taking gratitude walks. It allows them to think clearly and be grateful. Go for it if you can.

6. Remember – “Grass is always greener on the other side!”
The earlier we realise this, the better it is! Start appreciating little things in life. We may look upon some one else’s life, but there are people who look upon our’s too. Be content and happy with life because then only can we attract happiness!

7. Write a gratitude journal
Spare 5 mins a day and write all the things you are thankful for in a journal. This acts as a constant reminder as you can always go back and see what you have written. I am a little lazy at doing this, but I am thinking of giving it a try! 😊
Instead of a journal you can even use your favourite social media to express it or download a gratitude app on your phone (there are plenty of them!).

Being grateful is one of the important steps to stay happy. If you are grateful for your life (and the things in your life!), you WILL attract more of everything you want!

Do what you love, love what you do!

No, I am not asking you to quit your job! That is one aspect of it and I leave you all to figure out what’s best for you. All I mean is just do what you love to do – as a part of your job, as a hobby or as a weekend activity.

What did you love to do as kids ? Whether it was cycling, dancing, acting, drawing, or reading, we would always find time for it.
I remember as a kid I loved to dance. I loved it so much that I thought I would take it professionally. I was not the best at it but it made me really happy! I am sure all of us have such forgotten passions and interests. And what are doing about it ?

I have a full time job and I try to spare some time after work or on weekends for my blog and my store (new found passions!). I have enrolled for zumba classes to keep my love for dance alive. It’s never too late to figure out what you love to do. I want to do so much more and I am still trying to make some time for it 😊

Start by joining classes or groups with similar interests, team up with your loved ones or use the power of internet (youtube is loaded with videos!) to follow your interests. Set some small goals and work towards it. Setting up a goal will not let you quit easily. Once you achieve your goal, reward yourself with that dress you wanted to buy or by dining at your favourite Restaurant.

It’s just a matter of time and we deserve to spare some time for ourselves!

Prayers rejuvenate our soul!

Begin your day with morning prayers. Prayers not only help you calm down but also recharge you for the day ahead. Prayers have the power that help you move with confidence in life. They create a positive start to the day.

Pray to the one you have faith in – your Lord, Angels, your ancestors, your spiritual guru, or the universe! Be thankful for the perfect sleep you had the previous night. Be grateful for being able to witness another beautiful morning. Pray for giving you strength at all times. Pray so that you can take care of yourself and your family. Pray so that you rock at your work!

Prayers are an integral part of my life. I have faith in all forms of Supreme Power. When in doubt or trouble, prayers give me the clarity of mind which help me finding the solution. Prayers have made my life more happier than ever!
Prayers are my magic wand! None of my wishes are left unanswered.

Happy Mornings!

Happy mornings are a start to an awesome day!

How you choose to spend your mornings decides how your day will be. I have observed that whenever I wake up feeling grumpy or irritated, I often have a bad day. A bad start to the day can keep you in bad mood all day long.

Here’s how you can make your mornings a happy one :

1. Wake up with a smile on your face.

This is a conscious effort and it might take some time to get in that habit. But, believe me, it feels great once you are use to it.

2. Look in the mirror.

Look at yourself in the mirror and observe the expressions on your face. Do you have that beautiful smile ? If not, consciously make an effort to smile. Take a moment to feel the happiness flow.

3. Drink water

As discussed in the previous post, reach out for a glass of water before anything else. Nothing is as refreshing as the water!

4. Exercise or meditate

Any form of exercise or meditation increases the concentration levels and prepares you for taking the best decisions all day long. Choose what you like to do and feel the difference.

5. Enjoy a hearty breakfast

Breakfast is the first meal of the day. Make sure you treat yourself with a healthy and a filling breakfast along with your favourite beverage. It kick starts your day with lot of energy.

6. If you wake up really early and have some more time to spare, enjoy your ME time or a chat with your loved ones. Spend sometime reading the newspaper or your favourite book. You can write, paint, cook, clean, sew, play with your pet ( if you have one!) or simply relax by doing nothing at all.

Choose to do what makes you happy the most!

These are very simple methods and each one of us can include it in our routine to have a beautiful start to the day.
